Account Executive - London, ON
Blackburn Radio London has an exciting and unique opportunity for an Account Executive at 98.1 Free FM on our sales team. Reporting to the General Sales Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for expanding our retail client base, maintaining current on-air clients and maximizing local sales revenue. You must be a self starter, have an exceptional work ethic and focused on success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Meet and exceed monthly/quarterly/yearly radio and web revenue targets
• Develop new revenue streams from unassigned accounts
• Provide on-going support to ensure optimal client service
• Ability to coordinate creative from initial sales meetings through to preparation of ads for client approval
• Ongoing awareness of our clients’ day to day challenges
• Receivables control
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 2 years of media sales experience
• Radio sales experience preferred
• Education in sales and marketing preferred
• High level of initiative/self motivation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Presentation Skills
• Goal-Oriented
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional Prospecting and Networking skills
• Conceptual, creative thinker and problem solver
• Must enjoy a fast-paced work environment that is based on team & individual effort

Program Director – Windsor & Chatham
Blackburn Radio has an exciting opportunity available for a Program Director of 95.1/100.7 The Rock (Windsor/Chatham) reporting to the General Managers in Windsor and Chatham. The successful candidate will have a minimum 3 yrs program director’s experience in a highly competitive market, be a solid talent coach, compelling content developer, innovative marketer, strategic thinker and sales friendly.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, develop and coach talent
- Create and execute programming and market strategies
- Brand responsibility: On-Air, On-Line, On-site
- Working with sales on revenue generation
- Direction of on-air products in keeping with the overall objectives of the General Managers
- Develop annual business plans and execute budget planning and follow through
- Accountability for operational matters relating to programming
- Cover air shifts (live or tracked) for vacation/sick days. This could include extended periods due to current staff requirements.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Windsor/Essex and Chatham/Kent radio market
- Solid leadership skills
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated marketing experience with a proven track record as a Program Director
- MicroBBM expertise…with the ‘numbers’ and qualitative data
- Solid understanding of Multi-platform options and social networking
- Strong knowledge of CRTC and CBSC regulations
- Solid work ethic with an ability to implement detailed strategic operating plans
- Excellent time management skills
- Outgoing, energetic and fun attitude
- Knowledge and appreciation of sales and revenue development and the need to collaborate with sales department to achieve financial targets
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure within a rapidly changing environment
- Proven track record in working with a team of experienced radio personnel
- Mastery of RCS/Selector and BDS/Mediabase to assist the MD, as well as to cover the music scheduling during vacations
- The successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license as there will be required travel from Windsor to Chatham weekly.
